Eden Hazard suffered an injury scare as he limped off to be replaced by Olivier Giroud with seven minutes remaining during Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri revealed after the game that Hazard will be ready for Chelsea’s Premier League game against Leicester City next weekend.
Sarri admitted Hazard will need one to two days rest to recover fully.
“Eden is okay,” Sarri said. “It’s only a knock.
“I spoke with the doctor and he told me it’s not a big problem. Maybe one or two days to rest.”
Hazard provided the assist for Pedro’s opener before scoring his eight league goal of the season.
The game against Brighton was the second consecutive league game Sarri has played Hazard as a false nine.
Despite Hazard’s return of a goal and three assists playing in the last two league games as a false nine, Sarri insists there’s room for improvement for Hazard.
“For us he could be very important in this position. He is able to come deep and play with his team-mates,” Sarri said.
“He is able to create spaces. Now in that position he has to improve in attacking the box.”
Hazard’s assist for Pedro’s goal means he is Europe’s current assist king with nine assists.
