Reports from Spain earlier this week claimed that Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has offered himself to Spanish club Barcelona after his struggles in England.
According to Spanish media outfit Marca, Morata has offered himself as a long-term replacement for Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.
Marca claims Morata isn’t happy at Chelsea and wants to leave Stamford Bridge for Barcelona.
Barcelona are looking for a long-term replacement for centre forward Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba insists Alvaro Morata is a ‘top player’ and he would be ‘very welcome’ at Barcelona, should he push through a transfer away from Chelsea.
“Morata is a player that I appreciate a lot, he has been a top player for many years,” he said on Thursday.
“At the end, it’s the club’s [decision] if they want to sign him or not, as with any other player.
“If the rumours are true, he would be very welcome, as all the new players [are].”
According to Catalan radio station RAC1, negotiations between Morata’s camp and Barcelona are at an initial stage and the striker believes he can resurrect his career at Barcelona.
