David Luiz has been enjoying a rejuvenated career under new boss Maurizio Sarri, as the Brazilian has played in every league game for Chelsea this season.
The 31-year-old has been a regular choice for Sarri alongside Antonio Rudiger in the centre-back role, but he has been taking a lot of sticks of recent especially after his poor performance against Tottenham.
However, the Brazilian responded with a five star performance against Manchester City, and was astute in defence before going on to score the goal which sealed a 2-0 victory for Chelsea.
In response to criticisms, Luiz said: “I know what it means to play for a big club.
“(At) big clubs it’s like that: if you win, everything is good. If you lose, it’s your fault, especially defenders and goalkeepers.
“Strikers never lose games… we have to be honest and say that. ‘We have to accept that in the right way, in an intelligent way.
“It was good to play against a fantastic team, keep the clean sheet and have a great game.”
