Jose Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United on Tuesday morning, almost three years to the day since he was dismissed by Chelsea for a second time.

Mourinho was sacked with Manchester United 19 points behind leaders Liverpool while they trail Chelsea, who are in fourth, by 11 points.

Mourinho publicly fell out with players at Manchester United including Paul Pogba, who mocked Mourinho after his sack was announced.

Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola believes Mourinho will make a quick return to management following his sacking from Manchester United.

Asked whether top clubs will still want to hire Mourinho, Zola said: “It’s never pleasant to see a coach being dismissed from a job. It’s not pleasant for anyone, especially not pleasant for somebody like Jose who has won so much in the game and done so much for this club.

“(I am feeling) Sad, like many others. But I want to wish him all the best in the new adventure I’m sure he’ll have somewhere else.

“Nowadays, getting the sack is part of our job. It belongs to everyone: from the small coaches to the big ones. Knowing the character and personality of Jose, he’ll want to bounce back immediately, so I don’t know about that.”
