PSG forward Kylian Mbappe faced Eden Hazard’s Belgium with France in World Cup semi-final and he has named Hazard as the best player he has faced this year.
Hazard and Mbappe faced each other in the World Cup semi-final between France and Belgium and Mbappe has now revealed he was hugely impressed by Hazard’s speed of execution.
“I was amazed by his speed of execution, he is the player I played against this year impressed me the most,” Mbappe told France Football.
“With Belgium, in the semi-finals, he was impressive while still respecting the game.
“When he has to pass the ball because the game commands it, he does so without any qualms. It’s a devil.
“I was sometimes (he smiles) five meters away from him, and I was amazed by his speed of execution, with the ball sticking to his foot all the time, his permanent information with his head still down.
“There is no space he does not see.”
Mbappe, who recently won the award for the best young player in world football, was tipped by Hazard to win the Ballon’dOr before Luka Modric won the award this week.
“Even though I had a very good year, I have to keep my feet on the ground,” Hazard told RTFB.
“I do not deserve the Ballon d’Or. I think there are players who have been better than me.
“Winning the Ballon d’Or is not a goal for me. If I win it one day, great. If I do not, it won’t be a problem.
“I would have said Luka Modric but he has played a little less well since August and September.
“So, if we take into account the beginning of the season, I would say Kylian Mbappe.”
