A lot of debate has been going on since Chelsea’s shock 3-1 defeat to Tottenham last weekend.
Chelsea lost their first game of the season as Spurs came with a game plan to frustrate Jorginho and thus stop Chelsea from playing, and to their credit the game plan worked.
Jorginho was outrun in midfield and looked a lightweight against a spirited Spurs side, and the Italian has been widely criticised since that game.
Despite Jorginho’s bad game, Sarri has insisted that he will continue to play the Italian deep in midfield while N’Golo Kante plays in an attacking midfield role.
Sarri said after the defeat to Tottenham: “I want to play a central midfielder who is a very technical player, so for me, it’s Jorginho or (Cesc) Fabregas.
“I don’t want Kante in this position.”
Former Premier League star Matt Le Tissier has now urged Sarri to play Kante in his natural role or sell him.
“I feel sorry for him, I really do,” Le Tissier said on Sky Sports.
“He’s one of the best in the world in that position.
“Unfortunately, this coach doesn’t want to play in a way that suits him.
“He’s playing him a little bit out of position and you feel for players when they’re being asked to play in a unnatural position.
“They’re not going to be as good as playing in their natural position.
“I have a lot of sympathy for him and if this is the way the coach wants to play, he actually might as well sell N’Golo Kante.”
