N’Golo Kante has played in a more advanced role for Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri this season and Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri, who managed Kante at Leicester City, believes the France international will still be an important player for Sarri despite his new position.
Under Ranieri at Leicester City, Kante won the Premier League playing as a defensive midfielder in front of the back four alongside Danny Drinkwater.
Sarri and Ranieri have used Kante differently but Ranieri believes Kante will be important for Sarri despite his new position due to his intelligence.
Ranieri said: “For us N’Golo was a fantastic midfielder with Drinkwater, they understood what I wanted and for us they were important. He’s now a Chelsea player and we must stop him.
“He’s fantastic because he is intelligent, he can run and attack and defend and he was very important for me and is important for Sarri.
“He’s an intelligent midfielder.
“When I watch him he was a little more forward, with me I said to him to and Drinkwater to one attack and one defend, I don’t want them both attacking and nobody in front of my defensive line.
“Sarri wants one midfielder, Jorginho is okay and Kante can go and score goals.”
