We are fast approaching the January transfer window, and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is keen to strengthen his squad in January and Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic has emerged as a top target.
Reports now claim Chelsea have submitted an official offer for the United States international, who has starred in the Bundesliga for the past two years.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea spoke to the German club on Friday and asked to sign the 20-year-old when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Dortmund have set an asking price of £70m for Pulisic, and the report claims Chelsea have made a bid way lower than the German club’s asking fee.
Pulisic has refused to sign a contract extension with Dortmund, and his current deal at the club ends in 2020.
Chelsea are keen on signing a top-class winger to complement Eden Hazard, with Pedro and Willian in the twilight of their careers.
However, previous reports suggest the German club is adamant that the winger will not be leaving in the upcoming window and will keep him till the end of the season.
The Daily Mail have previously reported that Chelsea are pushing for a deal to be done in January for Pulisic, with the threat of a transfer ban from FIFA looming, after allegations Chelsea recruited under-age players.
Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc revealed back in November that Dortmund will try to keep Pulisic until the end of the season.
“We have known these rumours for many years,” Michael Zorc told Kicker.
“We are planning with him at least until the end of the season.”
