Antonio Rudiger signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge after arriving from Roma in the summer of 2017.
The 25-year-old is in his second season at the club and the centre-back has already cemented his place in the team. Having been a key part of Antonio Conte’s back three last season, Rudiger has also been a key player under Maurizio Sarri this season, and he has started every game in the Premier League this season.
With a number of Blues stars getting their contracts renewed this season, Rudiger has revealed that there’s no need for him to be involved in contract talks at this time as he still has three-and-a-half-years left.
He told Standard Sport: “That’s not the case. I think there is also no need. I still have three-and-a-half years (on my current contract) to go I like it here, but there is no speaking between me and the club.
“It is not necessary at the moment. I am trying to do my best, improve day by day, game by game. That’s what I’m all about. Of course this season is going well for me personally, but there is always space to improve.”
The Germany international has formed a strong partnership with David Luiz this season, and the Brazillian has revealed that he’s happy to play with Rudiger.
“He is still young, he is powerful and he has humility, and he wants to learn every day,” Luiz said.
“It is easy to play with him and also it is amazing to play with the other three.”
