Eden Hazard scored his 100th and 101st goals for Chelsea as he scored a brace in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory at Watford on Boxing Day.

Hazard’s goals against Watford helped the Blues bounce back from defeat at home by Leicester at the weekend with all three points at Vicarage Road.

With the win at Watford, Chelsea leaped over London rivals Arsenal in the process, who drew 1-1 away at Brighton.

According to Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, Hazard is influential to Chelsea just as Lionel Messi is to Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo is to Juventus.

Following his goals against Watford, Hazard is now Chelsea’s 10th all-time leading scorer.

Speaking after the victory over Watford, Sarri said of Hazard: “Of course he is very important for us, but Messi is very important for Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo is very important for Juventus. He is a very great player.

“He is able to play in every position. He is playing like a false number nine. He is very able to play in that position, today he scored two goals and I think he made two or three very good assists. He is very able to come to play with the team-mates, he is able to make space for team-mates, he is very able in that position, but I think that he can play very well in every position.”

Chelsea were again embarrassed at Watford by a small section of supporters using the Y-word.

It is the latest in a series of embarrassing incidents for the club after allegations of racist abuse from fans towards Raheem Sterling in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge and allegations of anti-Semitic chants during Chelsea’s 2-2 Europa League draw against Vidi in Hungary.

Sarri insisted majority of Chelsea fans are wonderful while calling the minority that have shamed the club in recent weeks stupid.

Asked if he has any comments after a minor section of Chelsea fans sung racist chants during the win at Watford, Sarri said: “No. Because I didn’t hear anything.

“First of all I want to speak with my club.

“Second I don’t want to generalise. For the 99 cases of percent, then in every community there are some stupids. Then all together we have to fight against stupid people, but not against the Chelsea fan.”

The club released a statement after the incident at Hungary condemning the small section of fans involved while urging fans to summon brain power.

Hazard, man of the match against Watford, revealed after the game that he would love to be a Chelsea legend like Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry, giving a hint he might reject the advances of Real Madrid and sign a new Chelsea contract.

Speaking after the victory at Watford, Hazard said: “(The 101 goals) mean a lot especially because we won today.

“One-hundred-and-one goals with this amazing club is something I will never forget!

“Now I think me, the fans and players want more. I want to score more goals for the club and want to be a legend like (Frank) Lampard, (Didier) Drogba and try to be my best.

“I can even play at centre back. My target is to score goals and to try and win the game, as a winger or a striker. I missed a couple of chances today, especially in the first half, but I scored two so it’s important to keep focus.

“We showed great character against Man City after defeat by Wolves, and today we did the same thing after a defeat to Leicester.

“When we fight together we are a top team.”

The Belgian has now been directly involved in 19 goals in the Premier League this season (10 goals, nine assists); the most of any player in the competition and he is proving he’s the best in the Premier League.
