There have been contract renewals of three key Chelsea players in recent weeks. Marcos Alonso recently signed a new long-term contract as well as N’Golo Kante, and Cesar Azpilicueta only recently put pen to paper for a four-year deal.
The biggest contract news Chelsea fans are waiting to hear is that of star player Eden Hazard.
Hazard has less than two years left on his deal, and the Belgian is strongly being chased by Real Madrid, and he hasn’t hidden his desire to play for the Spanish giants.
Chelsea blocked every possible way for Hazard to leave during the summer, and the club has been in talks with Hazard over a new deal for several months. Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has now revealed that it’s up to the Belgian to sign a new deal.
“It’s up to him,” Sarri said ahead of the game against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium. “The club is available to sign a new contract immediately, but it’s up to him whether he wants to renew or not.
“I want Eden here, of course, but I want Eden here if he wants to stay here. I know very well there is discussion between the club and the manager of Eden, every week I think, so if there is something new the club will call me immediately.
“I cannot speak with them [the players] about new contracts every day. It is not my job. The club and the managers of the players have to discuss it and find a solution.”
