Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek missed the 2-1 win over Watford due to injury. The 22-year-old suffered back injury and had to be rested for the game.

Maurizio Sarri has now revealed that Loftus-Cheek will be available for our next league game against Crystal Palace.

“Yes he is fit,” Sarri said.

“He rested for two or three days after a back problem. As you know he often has back problems, but the doctor told me he is fit for training and he will be able to play the next match.”

Loftus-Cheek has only made one Premier League start this season, but he’s beginning to break into the Chelsea first team in recent weeks. He has had more of his opportunities given in the Europa League, where he has made five starts.

The 22-year-old has scored six goals this season including a hat-trick against BATE Borisov in Europe.

Loftus-Cheek who made impact on loan at Crystal Palace last season and also broke into the England national team had to fight his way into Sarri’s plans, and the Chelsea boss recently admitted that he has been impressed with the young midfielder.

“Ruben is a very good player and, potentially, he’s a great player,” the Italian told UK newspapers.

“He has played seven matches out of seven in the last month, so I’m really very happy with him. He’s improving a lot from the tactical point of view.

“In the future, he will be a midfielder but sometimes we need to use him as a winger, especially in the last part of matches with his physical impact. So he’s a very important player for us.

“In the future, he will be more than important.”

Loftus-Cheek could have featured in the game against Watford, but his injury kept him away from the team.

Pedro hobbled off in the first half of the game to be replaced by youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi. Unfortunately, the 18-year-old academy product had to be withdrawn with about five minutes left of the match after pulling his own hamstring, with Sarri introducing Emerson Palmieri in place of the youngster.
