Ahead of Chelsea’s Europa League game against Vidi on Thursday, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed the players that won’t play the game.
Due to a very busy schedule that has seen Chelsea play three games in just six days, Sarri has opted to rest Eden Hazard, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Antonio Rudiger, N’Golo Kante and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Sarri also revealed Victor Moses, Gary Cahill and Mateo Kovacic will miss the game due to injuries.
“I don’t know the starting XI for tomorrow. I can tell you that I decided that the players who played for three matches in six days in the last week have to rest in this match and so I am talking about Kepa, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Kante and Hazard,” Sarri said.
“Then we have three injuries. Kovacic, Cahill and Moses. All the other players are here, of course.”
Vidi have a chance of progressing if they beat Chelsea and Sarri hopes this would make them not to be too defensive as they were at Stamford Bridge.
“The last match was really very difficult, because they defended very well, very low in density. It was very difficult for us to score,” Sarri said.
“Maybe tomorrow will be a very different match because they are fighting for qualification. I think they need to win tomorrow. So maybe the match will be really very different.”
