Barcelona have always been rumoured to be interested in Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, and now reports claim that the Spanish giants are once again interested in signing the 22-year-old.
Maurizio Sarri has ruled out any possible move for Christensen and has insisted that the young Danish defender is an important player for Chelsea.
“I think Barcelona yesterday signed a new centre-back,” Sarri said. “Christensen is out of the market. He’s an important player for us.”
Christensen played 81 minutes in Chelsea’s recent Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth, but had to be substituted after pulling his hamstring.
Sarri did confirm in his press conference that he’s injured so won’t be out on the pitch for the next game.
He said: “We have a little problem with Christensen. A little injury to his hamstring. The doctor told me it’s not very serious but he needs to rest.”
Chelsea’s next game is against Leicester City, and Sarri has revealed that he’s worried about the Foxes pace upfront.
Sarri said: “At the moment we need to only think about this match because we have to play dangerous opponents.
“Leicester are a technical team but they have two or three players who are very fast. We need a good performance to gain three points.”
