Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored his fifth goal of the season as Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 on Sunday.
The 22-year-old has impressed in his few games for the club this season but is yet to get his first Premier League start of the campaign.
Loftus-Cheek is behind Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley in the pecking order and only gets to feature in cup games. However, he is consistently proving his worth to Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri with his impressive displays, and scored the second goal for the Blues to seal the victory against a difficult Fulham side.
Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes Loftus-Cheek is too good to be on the bench and that he has a big decision concerning his future to make at the end of the season – whether he’ll remain at the club if he isn’t given game time or leave.
“Ruben will have a big decision to make at the end of the season,” Shearer said in a column for The Sun.
“He scored against Fulham – just like he did the last time he played in the Premier League against Burnley back in October.
“But despite doing very well every time he does play, he is just not getting enough game time.
“Loftus-Cheek had a good time on loan at Crystal Palace last season and then went to the World Cup with England.
“I understood his decision to come back and give it a go at Chelsea because a new manager had taken over.
“But he will have to wait and see if he plays more between now and the end of the season, otherwise, he will really have to consider his future in the summer.”
