We have seen the kind of manager Maurizio Sarri is, we understand his football philosophy and he has shown his passion on the pitch.
Sarri’s assistant Gianfranco Zola has revealed some things that we do not know about the 59-year-old Italian off the pitch.
Zola has revealed that Sarri has a different personality when he’s off the pitch.
Zola said: “He likes to chat, have a glass of wine and smile. But when he’s on the pitch he’s very serious, he works a lot. He spent 30 years in the lower leagues building up what he has and now he’s very serious. I appreciate that. We need to get into his system because I think it will be beneficial for everyone.
“Players are not stupid, they understand when somebody is honest and trying to do something which can make you better. So when they recognise this it’s very easy to get on.”
Napoli star Dries Mertens who reached the peak of his career under Sarri at Napoli has joked that Sarri is crazy and is obsessed with facts and information.
Mertens said: “The thing I loved most about him is that you feel you are playing with 12 not 11. He puts the line very high so the strikers feel the midfielders are close.
“I’m sure now Sarri is learning things about London. He knows so many facts, he’s crazy but interesting.”
