Chelsea have been urged to make a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson this month.
The Blues are reportedly keen on signing the £30 million rated striker this month but Bournemouth are keen on holding onto the striker until the summer at least.
According to Sky Sports reporter Pete Hall, Wilson will shine at Chelsea playing alongside Willian and Eden Hazard.
Bournemouth signed former Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke from Liverpool on Friday for £18 million and it is believed he could be a replacement for Wilson, who could join Chelsea this month.
“They have to get someone in, they’ve got Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata who are big-name players and colleagues in Madrid were guffouring at the figure they paid for Morata,” Hall said, according to Daily Express.
“Madrid wanted rid of him and they’d have accepted anything for him.
“They came in for this astronomical amount of money and he scored a hat-trick against Stoke and everyone thought he made it.
“But there are only two players who have caught offside more than Morata. He cannot seem to fathom the pace of – I don’t know if it’s the Premier League or that Chelsea team – and it’s just not working out.
“Callum Wilson could work really well with Eden Hazard.
“If he can score goals at Bournemouth and if he’s got Willian on one side and Hazard supplying from the other, Barkley and Kovacic behind him and Jorginho playing passes into him, he can score goals.”
Meanwhile, Paul Merson has told Chelsea to sign Marko Arnautovic instead of Wilson.
According to Merson, Wilson won’t guarantee Chelsea a top four finish and he believes Arnautovic is the striker Chelsea should go for because he is a proven goalscorer.
“But as much as Callum Wilson would help, I don’t think he’s the answer. He’s a good stop-gap but he’s not going to guarantee you top four,” Merson told Daily Star.
“West Ham’s star man Arnautovic might, though. He is a proven goalscorer and he gives you something different.
“He can make things happen and do something special.
“His agent has been making noises about him leaving as well and Chelsea could probably get him for £40m because of his age.
“They’ve just spent nearly £60m on Christian Pulisic.
“You pay for potential these days but he’s just a kid and he’s not coming until the summer anyway. He might be a big hit for Chelsea one day.
“But they need players now, not for three years’ time. They should go for Arnautovic.”
