Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake left Chelsea for Bournemouth in the summer of 2017 but the 23-year-old could be set for a return to Chelsea in the summer.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are considering bringing Nathan Ake back to Stamford Bridge in the summer and are ready to activate a buy-back clause in the deal that saw him join Bournemouth.
Ake joined Bournemouth for a fee of £20million in the summer of 2017 but Chelsea inserted a buy-back of £40million in the transfer and the Blues are now considering activating that buy-back in the summer.
With Gary Cahill set to leave Stamford Bridge this month and David Luiz’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Chelsea need reinforcement at the back and Ake is now being considered by the club.
Ake has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League since leaving Chelsea in the summer of 2017 and Premier League rivals Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old.
He has featured in 22 games in all competitions for Bournemouth this season, scoring three times. He has also won ten caps for Holland.
Chelsea also want to sign Ake because he counts as homegrown, having join Chelsea’s academy at the age of 16.
