After the 2-0 defeat against Arsenal where Chelsea were below par, the Blues have now put in a worse performance after the 4-0 loss to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Chelsea dominated the first-half against the Cherries, but the team slumped in the second-half and were so ordinary and weak that Bournemouth toiled with Chelsea’s defence with dangerous breaks time after time.

The loss means Chelsea have now dropped out of a Champions League spot as we have same points and goal difference with Arsenal, but the Gunners have scored ten more goals than Chelsea.

Speaking about the squad’s mentality, Sarri said: “At the moment they can react against a big team, when we play against a big team we can play with a big level of motivation.

“But in this match it was different. Suddenly after the first goal we were not able to play. I think it was a different situation. Of course about the mentality.

“Maybe we are not at the top of the table, but we cannot lose 4-0 to Bournemouth, I want to respect them. Maybe it is my fault that I am not able to motivate them.”

Chelsea have failed to score in three consecutive away league games, but Sarri rebuffed claims that his side are an easy side to beat.

He said: “No we are not an easy team I don’t think. We played a very good first half with some problems in the offensive phase. We had many players with their back to the opposing goal. We need more movement, otherwise the striker it will be difficult.”

The defeat to Bournemouth marked Chelsea’s heaviest league defeat since a 5-1 loss to Liverpool in September 1996.

Sarri was asked if he was beginning to feel the pressure, but he said: “No. I feel frustrated, not under pressure. I did not see my work, so I am frustrated.”

Sarri also insisted that the players at his disposal are good but couldn’t wrap his head around why they lost to Bournemouth 4-0.

Asked if the players are good enough, Sarri said: “I think so, maybe we are not at the top of the table. But we cannot lose 4-0 to Bournemouth, I want to respect them. Maybe it is my fault that i am not able to motivate them.”
