According to former Chelsea star Joe Cole, Willian is one of the most under-rated players and he believes Willian is one of the best players in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old Brazilian scored a stunning winner as Chelsea beat Newcastle United 2-1 on Saturday.
“He is one of the most under-rated players. Eden Hazard gets a lot of headlines but Willian has never let Chelsea down,” Cole said, according to Daily Express.
“It was sensational. When Hazard picks the ball up, his awareness and ability to know what’s around him is amazing.
“He took the whole back five out of play and we want to see Willian in these positions. To cut inside from there and bang it in is unbelievable.
“Willian knows what he’s doing with the ball – right, come inside and hit that top bins. I loved it, absolutely loved it.”
Barcelona have shown interest in signing Willian this month with Chelsea said to have rejected a bid from the Spanish club.
When asked about his future, Willian told BT Sport: “My future? My future is here at Chelsea. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Cole also revealed he is pleased that Willian sees his future at Chelsea.
“I’m so pleased for him because he’s a top player and it’s great he sees his future here,” Cole added.
“He’s one of the best players in the Premier League.
“I’ve watched this lad for many, many years now and every time I watch him he’s affecting the game.
“You don’t play for Brazil as many times as him with all the quality they’ve got.
“He’s produced again for Chelsea. I know fans love watching him play and the fact he says he sees his future here is brilliant.”
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri revealed after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Newcastle that Willian is an important player for Chelsea.
“Willian, for us, is a very important player,” Sarri said.
“As I said yesterday in the press conference, in my opinion he has to stay with us. He’s very important player, like Pedro. Hudson-Odoi is becoming a very important player so with Eden like a striker today, we need wingers, so we need Pedro, Hudson-Odoi and Willian, of course. At this moment he’s a fundamental player.”
