Chelsea were beaten 6-0 at Etihad Stadium on Sunday with Sergio Aguero scoring hat-trick. It is Chelsea’s heaviest defeat in Premier League history.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri revealed after the match that he never hears from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and admitted he doesn’t know what to expect from Abramovich after the thrashing.
“If the President calls, I’ll be happy, seeing as I never hear from him,” Sarri told Sky Italia. “To be honest, I don’t know what to expect.”
Chelsea are now sixth in the league after the loss to Manchester City and Sarri admits he is under pressure following the loss.
Asked whether the result will put pressure on his job, Sarri said: “I think that’s right. I am in charge of the team so it’s right.
“I don’t know, not at the moment, but I think that will happen because it’s normal.
“Something we need to do, we have to do. I don’t know, you’ll have to ask the club. I have no idea about this at the moment.”
Sarri has refused to adapt his tactics since Chelsea’s form dipped and the Italian is humiliating fans with the results the team has been getting. A 4-0 loss to Bournemouth and 6-0 loss to Manchester City is unacceptable for a club as big as Chelsea. I won’t be surprised if the Italian is sacked.
