Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is under huge pressure after poor results in the league. The Blues lost 6-0 at Manchester City on Sunday, our worst defeat in Premier League history and the Blues are in danger of losing out on Champions League football next season after dropping to sixth.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is reportedly a contender to be given the Chelsea job if Roman Abramovich decides to sack Sarri.

Lampard is Chelsea’s record goalscorer, won every club honour during 13 years as a player at Stamford Bridge and is impressing as boss of Derby County.

With former Manchester United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reviving Manchester United since he replaced Jose Mourinho last December, Chelsea are reportedly considering giving the job to an ex-player that understands what it means to play for Chelsea.

Lampard has however played down reports suggestions he is set to replace Sarri at Chelsea.

“My job is here,” Lampard said on Monday.

“We’re working very hard and my thoughts are on Ipswich Town on Wednesday, and Brighton on Saturday.”

Lampard has backed Chelsea to respond to the defeat to Manchester City.

“With my Chelsea hat on, 13 years as a player there, you have a feeling for it and it’s not nice, it’s not easy. It doesn’t happen to Chelsea much so when it does it’s a shock,” Lampard added.

“But they’re going up against an incredible team and I had some time at Manchester City as well. I have some feelings for them. The work Pep Guardiola and their incredible squad have done is something special.

“For Chelsea it was a tough day. With all top teams the important thing is you come back strong, no matter what type of defeat. What makes top teams is resilience and Chelsea as a club will have it.”
