Chelsea fans turned on Maurizio Sarri during Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup loss to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

After Sarri replaced Kovacic with Ross Barkley, the 20th time this season he has switched the two midfielders during a game, Chelsea fans turned on Sarri with chants of “You don’t know what you’re doing”.

Sarri has come under increasing scrutiny for his apparent tactical inflexibility and his substitutions during the loss against Manchester United didn’t help his cause among Chelsea fans.

There were also chants of “F*** Sarri-ball” from the Chelsea fans who have obviously gotten tired of Chelsea’s slump under Sarri.

There were also loud calls from Chelsea fans for the return of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard while Manchester United fans jokingly chanted for Jose Mourinho to return to Chelsea.

Chelsea never really threatened Manchester United after first half goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba. Chelsea’s attack worsened after Sarri’s substitutions. Willian was poor, Ross Barkley was poor and Sarri’s decision to bring in Davide Zappacosta for Cesar Azpilicueta with Chelsea looking for a goal shocked Chelsea fans.

People talk about how Pep Guardiola struggled in his first season in England but the Spaniard tried to change things at least. Guardiola even copied Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation in his first season at Etihad.

Sarri plays 4-3-3 always whether the team is winning or losing and is just too stubborn to adapt. He isn’t willing to change anything despite the team’s struggles and this makes it difficult for fans to back him.
