Jose Mourinho signed Ashley Cole from Arsenal in 2006 and despite playing under Mourinho for three seasons over two spells at Chelsea, Mourinho isn’t Cole’s favourite Chelsea manager. Cole won the Champions League under former Chelsea midfielder Roberto Di Matteo but the Italian also isn’t Cole’s favourite.
Cole was a Chelsea player between 2006 and 2014 and the former England international played under eight different managers at Chelsea during that time.
According to Cole, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Carlo Ancelotti are his favourite managers at Chelsea because he expressed himself on the pitch under both managers. Cole won the Premier League title under Ancelotti in 2010. He also believes Scolari helped him get back to his best on the pitch.
Cold told Sky Sports: “I enjoyed Scolari and Ancelotti, probably my favourite two. I think Scolari [is my favourite], he came at a time when I wasn’t playing as well as I knew I could when I first came to Chelsea – I wasn’t the Ashley Cole they knew at Arsenal.
“He came and he brought this new lease of life, it was like playing for Brazil. He had me bombing up and down against players like Jamie Carragher, with [Jose] Bosingwa on the other side.
“We had no rules, we could go where we wanted, left and right backs going at the same time. We were playing great football, but by December it had petered out and he got the sack.”
Scolari was sacked after seven months in charge with the Blues in fourth place in February.
