Lucas Piazon rejected the chance to join Juventus in 2011 and instead signed for Chelsea.
It didn’t really turn out well for the Brazilian at Stamford Bridge as he made just three appearances for Chelsea since joining the club in January 2012.
Piazon completed a loan move to Serie A side Chievo in January, his seventh loan deal since he joined Chelsea. He’s been loaned to Malaga, Vitesse, Eintracht Frankfurt, Reading, Fulham (twice) and now Chievo.
Piazon stayed with the first team at Chelsea this season but failed to get any game time, making an appearance on the bench against Spurs in the League Cup semifinal second leg.
Despite failing to make it at Chelsea, Piazon insists he doesn’t regret choosing Chelsea over Juventus in 2011.
“It’s true, at 17 [Juventus] wanted me as well as Chelsea, but I chose the Premier League. In England I found myself in front of so many strong players and this made me realise that I had to work harder,” Piazon said, according to Sport Witness.
“I have no regrets, I can’t say what player I would be today if I had taken a different path in the past. As boy I followed the Italian league a lot and I imagined being in their place one day. I dreamed of being like Ronaldo.”
