Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has named a strong 20-man delegation to play Sweden side Malmo in the first leg of the second round of the Europa League clash against Malmo.

The Blues will be away at Sweden for the first leg, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marcos Alonso will be unavailable for the clash.

Sarri has revealed that Loftus-Cheek will miss the clash due to a back pain, as the 23-year-old has been disturbed this season by a perpetual back injury.

“Loftus-Cheek is out with the same problem, with his back,” Sarri said.

“It’s not the most serious problem, I hope he [is back] for the FA Cup, but it was impossible for tomorrow. I want Marcos to rest for one match. No physical problem.”

Loftus-Cheek has been hampered by back injuries throughout the campaign, limiting him to 23 appearances in all competition.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been included in the squad, and the teenager who has missed the last couple of games, will be hoping to feature in the Europa League clash.

Sarri will be hoping his side bounces back from the 6-0 thrashing suffered in the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Asked about how training had been at Cobham over the past few days, he said: “Not too easy of course but I think after a match like at Manchester City it is normal.

“It’s not easy to play tomorrow after a 6-0 but we have to play and we have to play well if we want to win.

“We know that it will be not very easy because we have to play against a very good team, they are compact, solid and usually have a very good defensive phase. We want to win and want to react immediately.”
