A quick return to winning ways was what Chelsea needed after the embarrassing 4-0 loss at Bournemouth on Wednesday and the players responded with a thumping 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard scored two goals apiece with David Luiz rounding off the rout of Huddersfield.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri revealed after the game that he saw his football from the Chelsea team against Huddersfield.
Sarri urged the players to be more consistent following the win against Huddersfield.
“I think that we started very well in the first 25 minutes I really saw my football. We played for 90 minutes, we defended for 90 minutes,” Sarri said. “Today we played a very good match, but we need consistency now.
Chelsea will face huge tests in the month of February which could define our season with games against Manchester City twice this month, Manchester United in the FA Cup, Tottenham in the league and two Europa League games against Malmo.
Sarri believes our opponents will be worried about facing us.
“It will be very difficult for our opponents as well,” Sarri said in reaction to the tough test coming up this month.
“At the moment we have to be happy about our season. We are involved in four different competitions. We have to fight if we want to stay in the top four and then we have to win something. It will be difficult, in the Carabao Cup with played Liverpool and Spurs, then we have to play City, like a Champions League. The championship is very competitive, we need consistency.”
