Following the embarrassing 6-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend, fans expected a solid win against Manchester United on Monday.

Chelsea failed to score yet again in the loss to Manchester United, with first half goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba deciding the tie.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri promised Chelsea fans attacking football when he took over in the summer but Chelsea aren’t playing anything close to that.

Despite dominating possession yet again against Manchester United (67%), Chelsea lacked cutting edge against United and never really threatened the team from Manchester.

According to a stat by Opta, Chelsea only attempted two shots on target in the loss to Manchester United, with both coming in the 11th minute of the match (David Luiz’s freekick and Pedro’s shot from the rebound).

Chelsea failed to muster a shot on target for the final 79 minutes of the match and this shows why the Blues are the lowest scoring side among the top six teams in the league.

Chelsea fans have every right to be worried about the direction the club is headed under Sarri. Chelsea don’t just have defensive problems but also problem scoring goals.

Sarri’s stubbornness to sticking to what isn’t working is making things even worse for the club. Fans want Sarri to adjust the way he sets the team up but the Italian is bent on playing a style of play every Premier League manager seems to have found out.

What do you think about Chelsea’s inability to muster a shot on target for the final 79 minutes against Manchester United?
