It’s a shame Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is still bent on playing Jorginho despite all the flaws in his game.
The English Premier League is faster compared to the Italian Serie A and it’s expected the defensive midfielder isn’t just good defensively but also fast. Why Sarri still keeps playing Jorginho surprises everywhere and I know some Chelsea players would be surprised too.
Jorginho isn’t just poor defensively but he is just too slow. Sometimes I wonder if every player in the Premier League is faster than Jorginho.
Sarri has recently criticized the players for lack of motivation and failing to press aggressively but if he really wants a response from the players, he needs to drop Jorginho.
Jorginho’s lack of desire and effort was highlighted in Chelsea’s 6-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday.
In the 74th minute during the defeat to City, Jorginho’s lack of defensive qualities and determination were exposed by Raheem Sterling, who sprinted with the ball through the middle of the pitch while the Italian just jogged back. Yes you read that right, ‘Sarri’s son’ just jogged back. What makes it even more annoying is that Mateo Kovacic and Antonio Rudiger were further away but still ended up overtaking Jorginho.
If Sarri expects the Chelsea players to press opponents aggressively, then Jorginho should be out of the team after his lack of effort against Manchester City. Kante in that position would obviously be better.
As a Chelsea fan, I just wonder what Jorginho is really good at. He can’t defend, he can’t run, he can’t tackle and he can’t assist a goal. The only thing Jorginho is good at is just passing the ball side wards or backwards.
