Willian has been an important player since joining the club in 2013 but the Brazilian could be set to leave the club in the summer.
The 30-year-old Brazilian has just 18 months left in his contract and despite being happy at Stamford Bridge, is yet to sign a contract extension.
Chelsea’s contract policy of offering players above 30 just one year deals could see Willian leave Stamford Bridge just like Cesc Fabregas did after refusing Chelsea’s offer of a one-year deal.
According to Standard Sport, discussions have taken place between Chelsea and the representatives of Willian and the board have made it clear that they will only consider offering another 12 months.
Willian is reportedly keen on looking to extend his deal until 2023 and Chelsea’s willingness to offer a short-term deal has put his future at Stamford Bridge in doubt.
The 30-year-old has garnered interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris St Germain over the past six months and he could push for an exit this summer to get a longer term contract.
It’s also the same situation with Chelsea defender David Luiz but the defender has reportedly been convinced to accept a short-term deal at Chelsea.
