Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba has revealed he is open to joining a Premier League club even though he is happy at Bayern Munich.
The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the best left-backs in the world and has spent his entire senior career at Bayern Munich since departing Austria Vienna as a youngster in 2008.
With Marcos Alonso struggling to perform consistently for the Blues, signing Alaba will be a perfect signing for Chelsea.
“I can imagine trying something else, but I really feel very comfortable at Bayern,” Alaba told Bild.
“Every year there are new challenges and new objectives, and the pressure will always be there. I’m happy in Munich, but of course I can imagine seeing something else [in the future].”
Asked where he might consider going, Alaba added: “Spain, England. In Spain it would be the two big clubs, I guess? Real [Madrid] or Barcelona. Also the big clubs in England.”
Alaba is also versatile and is comfortable playing in midfield and in central defence and with two years left on his Bayern Munich contract, lots of clubs will be interested in the 26-year-old.
Chelsea’s transfer ban will definitely hinder the Blues from making a move this summer but the ban could be frozen if our appeal is successful.
