Chelsea star Eden Hazard has just over one year left on his Chelsea contract and former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has encouraged the Belgian captain to join him at Real Madrid.
Courtois left Chelsea for Real Madrid last summer with only one year left on his contract and with Real Madrid interested in signing Hazard this summer, Courtois has urged him to join Real Madrid.
“He is one of my best friends in football,” Courtois told El Transistor.
“I do not know if he’s going to sign for Real Madrid, nor do I know if the club wants him.
“But for me he’s one of the best of the world and as a friend I would like him to be here.”
Despite struggling in his first season at Real Madrid, Courtois believes he made the right choice to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid.
“I do not regret coming, Madrid is the club I always wanted to be at,” Courtois added.
“Defending this goal is a luxury. I think, ‘How cool is it be there every two weeks’. At Real, I noticed from the first minute that I was at the best club in the world.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has responded to rumors linking him with the Chelsea boss. According to reports, Lampard could replace Maurizio Sarri as Chelsea boss.
Speaking about links to the Chelsea job, Lampard told Derby supporters at a fans’ forum on Wednesday: “Does it affect me? Absolutely not because I have a three-year contract here.
“I am planning for pre-season, I am planning recruitment in the summer, and planning before that getting promoted, if we can.
“Having played for Chelsea for 13 years, and the link I have with them will go on forever.
“It possibly means if Chelsea have their moments, which we all know they have had there, then I am an easy link.
“So was Zinedine Zidane before he took the Real Madrid job.”
