Eden Hazard’s Chelsea contract expires in the summer of 2020 and the Belgian captain is yet to sign a new contract amid rumours linking him with a summer move to Spanish side Real Madrid.
The reappointment of Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid boss on Monday has intensified speculations linking Hazard with a move to Real Madrid. Hazard has previously described the Real Madrid boss as his idol.
Despite rumours linking Hazard with a move to Real Madrid, Chelsea forward Willian insists Hazard is fully focused on Chelsea and has not spoken of a desire to join Real Madrid.
“No doubt, he’s focused here,” Willian said.
“He’s never said something about Real Madrid or stuff like this. He just wants to continue to play for Chelsea.”
While Willian insists Hazard is focused on Chelsea, he refused to rule out a potential move for the Belgian captain.
“First of all, I hope he stays with us. But in football you never know what can happen,” said Willian.
“Of course, Eden is a fantastic player, one of the best players in the world. He’s my friend, one of the best players I’ve played with in my whole career.
“I just have to say I hope he stays with us. That’s it.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri insists he is unconcerned about rumours linking Hazard with a summer move to Real Madrid following the reappointment of Zidane as Real Madrid boss.
“At the moment, I didn’t speak with Eden about Zidane so I don’t know,” said Sarri.
“I am not worried because you know very well my opinion – I want in my team only the players who want to play for Chelsea, so I cannot be worried.”
