Chelsea are now in danger of missing out on the Champions League after suffering yet another defeat, this time a 2-0 loss to Everton at the Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Blues have been struggling since the start of 2019 after a good start to the season, and scoring goals have been a problem for this Chelsea side despite all the domination in possession.
Eden Hazard seems to be Chelsea’s major option in getting the goals, and they tend to struggle when he can’t get a goal. Chelsea’s midfield could actually be the problem as the likes of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley won’t give you goals from the middle of the park, not to talk of Jorginho who has only scored once from open play since joining last summer.
Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley has now urged Sarri to feature Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of Kovacic and Barkley, insisting that Loftus-Cheek is more of a goal threat than the duo. And he has also advised that Sarri should quit playing Jorginho deep in midfield, insisting that Kante should be the one to play that role.
Burley told ESPN FC: “He has got the top four to do that too but their league form would not suggest that they are going to get in there.
“They do look to have a favourable draw in the Europa League although I do see Napoli personally as the favourites to win that.
“The dynamics of this team are all wrong.
“They have got to go for both but I go back to their team selection.
“There are lots of problems in this Chelsea side at the moment and it is not just in they midfield but the dynamics of the midfield gave been poor since the early parts of the season.
“I don’t understand why Ruben Loftus-Cheek is not a regular starter and I still don’t understand why Jorginho is in the team and Kante is not playing a deeper role and either Kovacic or Barkley further forward.
“I think Loftus-Cheek offers far more dynamism, guile and strength and power from the middle of the park than either Kovacic or Barkley.
“But he continues to be on the bench in big domestic games and I think that playing Jorginho in this league and in this team is just not working.”
Chelsea’s chances of getting into the Champions League from the Premier is very slim, and Burley has admitted that winning the Europa League might be the club’s best bet.
“I think he has got the Europa League potentially to save his job,” Burley said.
Excellent explanation

This old fool sarri is a sorry story for us the blues. Let him pack up and take his misplaced Sarri ball elsewhere..
