Chelsea might be struggling this season, but Chelsea star Eden Hazard is enjoying one of his best individual careers since his move to Stamford Bridge in 2012.
Hazard has scored 16 goals and made 11 assists this season, but he has revealed that he’s looking up to the likes of his former teammate Mohamed Salah, as well as Luka Modric, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
When asked the players he look up to, Hazard admitted that former Chelsea player Salah who has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season, is the only Premier League player he’s looking up to and trying to reach that level.
“I like [Luka] Modric,” he told NBC Sports when asked about the players he looks up to.
“He’s more of a midfielder than me but, of course, I like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Mo Salah is one of my good friends and he’s doing something incredible. I try to look at this player and this player and try to reach that level.”
Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge is a cause for concern among Chelsea fans, with Real Madrid keen on signing the Belgian. Hazard has now admitted that he’s focused on getting the job done at Chelsea over the next two months and has refused to be drawn into talks about his future.
Hazard’s contract at Chelsea ends in the summer of 2020, and Blues legend Didier Drogba has urged the 28-year-old to remain at the club and become a legend like him.
“Why should he leave? I think he can have this here in Chelsea,” Drogba said.
“I had many opportunities to leave and I decided to stay to make my own story and win the Champions League here. I think he’s got a chance to make his own story.
“This club is still young and we need people like him to improve the quality in terms of Champions League trophies in the room, he can help us.
“I will be very happy if he stays here, but if he goes to Madrid, good luck to him.”
