Jorginho has drawn the ire of Chelsea fans, and the summer signing has already been subjected to jeers from his own fans in just his first year in England.

Maurizio Sarri ensured Chelsea signed the Brazilian-born Italian as they both made the switch from Napoli to Chelsea at the end of last season, with Chelsea having to pay a fee of £57m for the former Napoli playmaker.

Jorginho is seen as central to Sarri’s style of play, and he started out well at Chelsea helping the Blues to dominate and win games by dictating play from the middle of the park.

After a brilliant start to life in the Premier League, Jorginho has been targeted by opposition midfielders, and Tottenham were the first to successfully utilise the tactics. Dele Alli was placed on Jorginho in Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Spurs back in November, and since then the 27-year-old has had a difficult time in the Premier League.

Jorginho has had a number of bad games this season, and he was even booed by Chelsea fans when Sarri brought him on in the Europa League game against Malmo.

Jorginho has now vowed to win back the hearts of Chelsea fans.

“Of course, in this day and age everything reaches you quickly,” he told ESPN Brasil when asked whether he had heard the jeers at the time. “With technology everything is very fast.

“The important thing is to know how to deal with the situation. I remained calm because I know this is what fans are like, if you’re not winning they will complain and they have the right to do so.

“But I always stay focused and keep working. And I’m sure I’ll be able to show what I’m capable of and make them change their minds.”

Jorginho has set a number of passing records since he came to Chelsea, and now the Italian playmaker has set a new record for the most passes made in one Premier League season without an assist, following Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Wednesday.

After Wednesday night’s win against Spurs, Jorginho has made 2,332 passes from his deep-lying midfield position, but he’s yet to record a single assist.
