Spanish club Real Madrid and Italian champions Juventus are interested in a summer move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport.
The 27-year-old France international has been a key player for the Blues since arriving as a £32million signing from Leicester City about three years ago. Kante helped Chelsea win the Premier League title in his first season at Chelsea and won the FA Cup last season with the Blues.
Under Maurizio Sarri, Kante has been played in an advanced position with Jorginho preferred as the defensive midfielder in the team.
Kante is recognized by many as the best defensive midfielder in the world. Real Madrid and Juventus believe they can lure the 27-year-old with the promise of playing him in his natural defensive midfield position.
Zinedine Zidane has identified Kante as the player to help strengthen Real Madrid’s midfield while Juventus are keen on improving their midfield as they are concerned that next season’s title defence will prove to be much tougher than in recent years.
Kante signed a contract extension in November and is now tied to Chelsea until 2023. With the Blues unable to sign new players due to the transfer ban placed on the club by FIFA, it would definitely be impossible for Juventus and Real Madrid to sign the France international.
