Chelsea have played a possession-based style of football this season under Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea winger Pedro admits he loves Sarri’s ideas about football.
Pedro sees similarities to Chelsea’s style of play under Sarri and style used at Barcelona which has brought so much success to the Spanish side.
“I think the idea is really good,” Pedro said of Chelsea’s style of play under Sarri.
“I love his idea to press really high and to recover the ball and create chances and to stay close to the target, because for the characteristics of our players it’s better to press really high than to wait, but sometimes we need to wait to stay compact and sometimes we need to press them really high.
“The similarity is I think to create a lot of chances with a big possession, like Barcelona maybe, when they want more touches on the ball and create chances with the players in between the lines to attack the space with a few movements.
“Also when you are pressing really high with the team and the line of the defenders on the half up the pitch, this the same.
“Maybe the biggest difference is Barcelona have been playing their football for 20 years. For this reason the idea is so clear.
“It is the first year here and it is different for so many players, but I think the idea is clear now and it is good for me to play in this way because always in Barcelona, in Spain, we played this way.”
