Chelsea have a comfortable scoreline heading into the second leg as the Blues defeated Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev at home 3-0. The result gives Chelsea a cushion into the second leg as goals from Pedro, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi gave Chelsea the victory.

Kepa: Didn’t have any save to make but his handling was tested at one point. He was very comfortable passing the ball out from the back. 6/10

Zappacosta: Had a bright start to the game, but didn’t contribute much afterwards. Could have done more to support the attack. 6/10

Luiz: Solid performance from the Brazilian who made life difficult for young striker Nazariy Rusyn. His passes were top notch as he found Pedro with some delightful passes. 7/10

Christensen: Calm, cool and solid display from the Dane. 7/10

Alonso: Wasn’t challenged much defensively and had one or two good moments going forward. Decent performance. 6/10

Jorginho: Controlled the game pretty well in the first-half, but the second period was a more intense affair and he was found wanting at times before being taken off for Kante. 6/10

Kovacic: Nice movements, good pressing and some wonderful skills characterised his performance. But he struggled a bit when he went to play the Jorginho role. 6.5/10

Barkley: Had a big chance in the first-half and had a couple of good understanding with the forward players. Dropped momentum in the second-half. 6/10

Willian: Was having a bit of an average game before his excellent free-kick helped kill Kiev’s steel at a time when they were pressing Chelsea with intensity. 7/10

Pedro: Had a very good game and scored the opener for Chelsea after a very good move. He could have easily gotten a hat-trick but for the goalkeeper. Played a nice ball to Loftus-Cheek in the buildup to the third goal. 9/10

Giroud: Might not have gotten a goal tonight but his contribution deserves praise. His lay-off to assist Pedro for the first goal was beautiful. 7/10


Loftus-Cheek: Came on for Barkley with 28 minutes left and had a good game. Had a couple of nice runs and his pass for Hudson-Odoi’s goal was superb. 7/10

Kante: Brought on to win tackles at a point where Kiev were gaining some momentum, and he did his beautifully. 7/10

Hudson-Odoi: Had about three moments when he caused Kiev some trouble. Did well to take his chance and kill the game. 7
