In the build-up to the game against Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri cautioned about the dangers of underestimating our opponents after the 3-0 first-leg win at Stamford Bridge.

A doubt about the boys being complacent was ended after Olivier Giroud scored early to give Chelsea the lead. Giroud ended the game with a hat-trick with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Marcos Alonso also on the scoresheet with the Blues beating Dynamo Kiev 5-0.

The performance against Dynamo Kiev pleased Chelsea boss Sarri.

“We started very well,” Sarri said.

“We wanted to start in this way because it was important to score after the result in Stamford Bridge. We were able to score after five minutes. For the opponent it was a difficult situation.

“We played a very good first half. In the second we managed the result. It was a wonderful performance for 90 minutes.”

Asked if the 8-0 aggregate win over Dynamo Kiev was the easiest game of his career, Sarri replied: “I think you are wrong.

“The problem in this moment of the season for Dynamo is a difficult problem. They are not at the top of their physical condition at the moment.

“Probably their squad two years ago was stronger. But they’re really very young with a great future, I think.”

Sarri also admitted he was impressed by Dynamo Kiev duo Viktor Tsygankov and Volodymyr Shepelev.

“I like the number 15 [Tsygankov], but I knew him as he played against Naples a couple of years ago,” said Sarri.

“He is a very good winger. He has a bright future. One of the top in Europe.

“The No.8 [Shepelev] can improve a lot in the future as well.”
