Chelsea thrashed Dynamo Kiev 5-0 on Thursday in the Europa League with Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud getting a hat-trick.
Giroud is the Europa League’s highest goal scorer with nine goals and according to former Chelsea boss Glenn Hoddle, the striker will have his pick of options when his Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season.
Hoddle believes Giroud doesn’t get enough credit at Chelsea.
“I don’t think he does (get enough credit),” Hoddle told BT Sport.
“Ever since he came to the country, I’ve liked him. At Arsenal I think he was excellent.
“I think his contract is coming up this summer, isn’t it? I think there will be a few that are sniffing around. He could easily walk into a few teams.
“(Against Dynamo Kiev) he was creative as well. He created a lot of things off him so his all-round game was excellent.
“I think his end product is getting better and better.”
Former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder Owen Hargreaves also believes Giroud is exceptional.
“Well they’ve got to figure out what’s happening with the Higuain situation,” Hargreaves said.
“They’ve got (Michy) Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham plus other players that they need to find a way to fit in.
“Giroud is exceptional. He played for France at the World Cup. At every level he plays, he scores goals.
“And I think he’s one of those guys, as well, who is quite humble.
“He doesn’t force his way into the manager’s office and say ‘you’ve got to play me every game’.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was impressed with Giroud’s performance in the 5-0 win over Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League.
“Very, very good,” Sarri said of Giroud’s performance.
“But, in the last period, every time he has been on the pitch, he was able to play really very well. He’s scored nine goals in this competition.
“As you know very well, Olivier for us is a very important player. I’m really very happy for him, and am really very happy with him.”
