Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is under huge pressure to save his job after Chelsea lost to Everton and drew with Wolves, results which left Chelsea with a huge task to make the top four this season.

Chelsea are three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and two points behind fifth-placed Manchester United with just eight games left to play. Chelsea would have been third if the Blues had won Wolves and Everton.

Chelsea fans are already frustrated with Sarri’s methods and are calling for his sack.

Former Chelsea defender Tony Dorigo believes Sarri must win the Europa League to save his Chelsea job.

“When Maurizio Sarri came, I looked at what he did at Napoli and Empoli. The style was fantastic,” he told Love Sport Radio.

“Obviously the Premier League is different but even so you saw certain parts of Chelsea coming together and then it all fell apart again. It’s about results.

“You’ve got to get them. Do Chelsea deserve to be in the top couple? Probably not. But after that they really should be knocking on that door.

“They are just dropping off the pace and what we know about the owner is that he does not suffer fools gladly. When he thinks the time is right, they are gone. He’s hanging on by a thread.

“Because of the transfer ban and what Sarri is trying to do, will the owner believe in the style and beliefs of Maurizio Sarri?

“The only way he’s going to do that is if he wins things and there is one chance left. The Europa League is so, so important.”

Chelsea face Slavia Prague in the quarter finals of the Europa League next month.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley has told Sarri how to solve Chelsea’s midfield problem.

Burley told ESPN FC: “He has got the top four to do that too but their league form would not suggest that they are going to get in there.

“They do look to have a favourable draw in the Europa League although I do see Napoli personally as the favourites to win that.

“The dynamics of this team are all wrong.

“They have got to go for both but I go back to their team selection.

“There are lots of problems in this Chelsea side at the moment and it is not just in they midfield but the dynamics of the midfield gave been poor since the early parts of the season.

“I don’t understand why Ruben Loftus-Cheek is not a regular starter and I still don’t understand why Jorginho is in the team and Kante is not playing a deeper role and either Kovacic or Barkley further forward.

“I think Loftus-Cheek offers far more dynamism, guile and strength and power from the middle of the park than either Kovacic or Barkley.

“But he continues to be on the bench in big domestic games and I think that playing Jorginho in this league and in this team is just not working.”
