Chelsea booked a place in the quarterfinal of the Europa League following a very comfortable 8-0 aggregate victory over Dynamo Kiev in the last 16.
Chelsea who have been unbeaten in this tournament wait to know their next opponent, with the draw starting at 12 noon today (Friday) in Nyon, Switzerland.
Bigwigs such as Arsenal, Napoli and Valencia still remain in the competition, as well as Slavia Prague, Eintracht Frankfurt and Villarreal as well as Portuguese giants Benfica. Sarri will definitely be hoping to avoid either of Napoli or Arsenal in the quarters as no team will be seeded.
Sarri admitted that he won’t want to face his former side Napoli in the quarterfinal but would rather meet them in the final.
The Chelsea boss said after beating Dynamo Kiev: “I prefer to find them in the final! First of all, because it means we are in the final and I am happy.
“And second because it means Napoli are in the final and I’m happy. Because of my relationship with the city and the people, for me it would be very difficult to play against them in Naples.”
Of all the teams left in the draw, Chelsea have never met Eintracht Frankfurt, Villarreal and Slavia Prague in a competitive game.
The Europa League quarter-final ties will take place on Thursday 11 April and Thursday 18 April. All are due to kick off at 8pm UK time, although UEFA can make exceptions to this rule.
The semi-finals are on 2 May and 9 May, with the final in Baku on Wednesday 29 May.
