There has been doubts over Roman Abramovich’s commitment to the club. The Billionaire owner of Chelsea has not been at Stamford Bridge this season and the club halted plans of building a new stadium after the Russian was denied visa.
Club accounts revealed this week that Abramovich had given up his director’s box at Stamford Bridge. Abramovich has spent at least £1million on corporate hospitality boxes every year since 2011, but didn’t renew his purchases for the start of the 2018-19 season.
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has assured Chelsea fans that Abramovich is still totally committed to the club.
“Everything he’s doing reaffirms his commitment to Chelsea,” Buck said.
“We hear from him several times a day and he’s talking to us about players, commercial activities and our good causes.
“So I would say he’s committed to Chelsea.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has thanked Chelsea fans for the positive atmosphere at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday night.
Sarri said: “The atmosphere in Stamford Bridge was wonderful today. The fans helped the players for 90 minutes. It’s easier when you win 3-0, but the atmosphere was wonderful and we have to say thank you to our fans for that.”
