According to European football expert Julien Laurens, Gonzalo Higuain wants to be a Chelsea player next season.
Higuain joined Chelsea on loan from Serie A side Juventus in the January transfer window and has struggled to impress for the Blues.
Chelsea agreed to pay £31million to Juventus to make the deal permanent or £15.5m loan fee to keep him at Stamford Bridge for another season.
Higuain has scored just four goals since joining Chelsea in January and fans have called for the striker to return to Juventus at the end of the season.
His performance in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United has been criticised by Chelsea fans.
Despite his struggles at the club, Laurens claims Higuain is happy in London and wants to be at Chelsea next season.
“It’s quite a fascinating story really,” Laurens told ESPN FC.
“He’s very happy in London, he wants to stay at the club.
“But what he brings to this team is almost nothing really.
“Maybe you thought the goal he scored against Burnley last Monday would be the turning point, that something would happen and then he would maybe go into better form, and scoring goals again.
“He doesn’t get many chances but when he has one, like late in the game [against United], he makes a mess of it.
“He’s almost unrecognisable I think from the lethal striker that we got to know at Napoli for example under [Maurizio] Sarri.
“And the whole point was Sarri wanted him so badly because he thought that he could get the same Higuain that he got at Napoli.
“With the same style of play, with Jorginho there, same system, etc, etc.
“But instead you’ve got someone who’s scored one goal against Burnley, two against Huddersfield, one against Fulham.
“That’s pretty much it and that’s just not good enough.”
Higuain could be a remain at Chelsea next season despite his struggles after Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admitted he wants to keep the striker at the club.
