Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford, and the Blues had to fight for the points having gone down in the 11th minute to a Juan Mata opener.
Marcos Alonso took advantage of a David De Gea error as the Manchester United goalkeeper spilled an Antonio Rudiger shot into the path of Alonso who tapped it home for Chelsea.
Chelsea got a draw from the game, and it looked like a point gain for the Blues as Arsenal had lost earlier in the day to Leicester City, losing 3-0 at the King Power Stadium.
Chelsea have their destiny in their hand as the Blues are two points above Arsenal and three points above United, and this draw proved significant for Chelsea to maintain a good lead over United. However, Eden Hazard didn’t seem too satisfied with the result.
Although Hazard was pleased with the team’s second-half performance, the Belgian admitted he would have preferred a win.
Hazard said after the game: “Yeah, a good day but it could have been better. I think if we believed in ourselves a bit more we could have scored another goal. We just need a bit more determination away from home.
“We started slowly, conceded a goal, but today we had a reaction so that’s a good thing. We played a good game and I can’t remember them having a chance in the second half.”
Chelsea’s next league game is a home clash against Watford, and the Blues will play the final league game away to an in-form Leicester City side. Chelsea need a win in these games to make top four and care less about what our rivals play.
