Gonzalo Higuain signed for Chelsea on a season-long loan deal, cutting short his loan deal with AC Milan to join Chelsea in the January transfer window until the end of the season.

Higuain has scored three goals for the Blues so far including a brilliant brace against Huddersfield.

The 31-year-old Argentine has played in the Spanish league and the Italian Serie A, including top clubs like Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and AC Milan.

Higuain has played alongside top stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and he has revealed that he’s as well delighted to play with Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

He told the official Chelsea website: “It’s an honour and a pleasure to play with him. He’s a great player and I hope he knows how important he is to the team because he can make the difference towards the end of the season.”

Higuain is an experienced striker in his own right, and with over a decade’s experience with Europe’s top leagues, and he has admitted that there’s a huge difference between the Italian league and the Premier League, in terms of speed and intensity.

The Argentine said: “You watch the games on TV and you see that it’s a fast and powerful league to play in, but when you’re playing it’s even more so. You come up against defenders that are really strong.

“Also, we’ve seen any team can beat any other team. We’re one point off the Champions League spot so we have an opportunity to put pressure on the other teams for the end of the season.”

Sarri has demanded more from the striker, telling him to improve physically and mentally.

Sarri said of Higuain: “He has to improve physically and mentally. He is able to be very useful during the last part of the season. It is not easy in the first months to play in the Premier League.

“It was a problem for Luis Suarez at Liverpool in his first season. He scored four goals [after signing in January] and then 24 in his first full season.

“He needs time to improve his physical condition and to be suitable for the Premier League. He is able to do it. We have Giroud and he is in very good mental and physical condition. We need both.”
