Arsenal progressed to the last four of the Europa League with a 3-0 aggregate win over Napoli on Thursday.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri expressed his disappointment at the result, as it means there is no longer a chance he will come up against his old side this season.
Speaking to the Metro, Sarri said: “I’m not happy that Napoli are out because, if the final is Chelsea v Napoli, I’m sure at the end of the match I’d be really happy.”
Chelsea could now face Arsenal in the final if both teams win their respective semi-final ties.
Chelsea will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the semifinal of the Europa League after a 5-3 aggregate win over Slavia Prague in the quarterfinals while Arsenal will face Valencia in the other semifinal tie.
With Chelsea and Arsenal battling to finish in the top four, winning the Europa League could be crucial for both teams, with the winner of the Europa League granted a place in next season’s Champions League.
After losing the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City, Sarri insists he wants to win the Europa League.
Sarri added: “This time I don’t want to play the final; I want to win the final.
“To win the competition it’ll be very difficult. Eintracht are a great team with a wonderful striker in Luka Jovic.”
