Ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash between Chelsea and Slavia Prague at Stamford Bridge, Slavia boss Jindrich Trpisovsky has hailed Eden Hazard as the best player in the world currently.
Trpisovsky also urged Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to show his side respect by playing Hazard on Thursday. Hazard came off the bench in the 1-0 win away in Czech.
“I think that Hazard’s on the same level as (Lionel) Messi and (Cristiano) Ronaldo; he’s in the same category if you ask me,” said Trpisovsky.
“I think currently he’s the best player in the world. Not many people can play at his level. I really like watching him.
“And I’d love for him to play tomorrow. Because if he plays tomorrow that means Chelsea take us seriously. And if we win tomorrow we would beat the best Chelsea, and we would be respected. So we hope the best players will be here tomorrow.
“Willian played in Prague and we would like to see him again. Against teams like Chelsea you cannot just focus on one player, you have to focus on all of them.”
Slavia have been inspired by Ajax’s Champions League giant-killing exploits, with the Amsterdam men having seen off Juventus as well as Real Madrid.
“Ajax winning is a miracle, and if we can go through now as well that will be another miracle,” said Trpisovsky.
“I am very impressed by Chelsea. We were really stunned and the whole environment here, and this is a great experience. The quality is just unreal, it’s like being on a different planet.
“Obviously we don’t have that in the Czech Republic. I am very grateful that we can be here, and that we’re playing here. We’re going to war tomorrow, so we’ve got to be ready.”
