Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso signed a five-year deal with Chelsea after having two successful seasons at the club.
Alonso was used to good effect as a right wing-back for two seasons under Antonio Conte and played a massive role to help Chelsea win the Premier League under in Conte’s first season as a Chelsea player. As a matter of fact, Alonso was rewarded for his form by being included in the team of the season.
Alonso had been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but he has now revealed that he will be in Chelsea for many more years, although he admitted he’s happy with the compliments of Real Madrid link.
“I am very happy here but we will see what happens this summer,” said Alonso.
“There is always talk (like this). Is it a compliment? Yes. It means I’m doing well if other teams are trying to get in touch.
“But first of all I’m focussing on the final. I am very happy to have four more years here and hopefully I will stay many more years here.”
Chelsea have the Europa League final yet to play, and it’s a good opportunity for the Blues to end the season with a trophy.
Alonso has admitted that the game will be a massive tie but wants Chelsea to come back with the trophy.
“We have a couple of days to rest now but of course we will be with our head in the game so there will be a little bit of light training and then in two days we are back to full training to be ready for the final,” Alonso said after the charity game against New England Revolution in Boston.
“A final for a European title, it is massive for us,” he added, “and we will try to prepare 120 per cent and try to bring the trophy back to London.”
